AVENGERS ENDGAME – REVIEW

One of the most anticipated movie of the decade blew the international box office earning more than 1.2 billion dollar globally.

Overall it was a great “marvel” movie but not necessarily a good movie, and it didn’t have to be a great movie as being an ending to the infinity war saga. So judging it on that basis it was just epic on every level. It did everything right as per what fans would have wanted. I really enjoyed every bit of the film, the action, comedy and the emotional scenes never felt out of place. The movie has a lot of Easter eggs. So lets start from the beginning. W A R N I N G S P O I L E R S A H E A D.

The first scene of the movie starts with Clint having a family picnic, training her daughter- Lila in archery when the decimation takes place, taking Clint’s family away. Then we get to see the “marvel studios” logo with the song “Dear Mr. Fantasy” in the background which is a pretty good touch to the movie, the snap scared us fans deeply and the song has a soothing effect to it.

We see Tony and Nebula stranded in space, playing paper football. We get to see Nebula’s character evolve, from the “blue meany” she was, to this generous person. During Tony’s message to Pepper, many easter eggs can be noticed, from his correction of days of him being stranded in space to recording the message in his helmet which gives a nice nod to Iron Man 3. Later Captain Marvel rescues them. Speaking of Captain Marvel, the part of the film I disliked the most was not using her in the movie to her full potency, earlier anticipated to play a crucial part in killing Thanos. But I like the fact she has short hair now, which just makes her character a little bit more comic accurate.

Then we reach the 5 year jump, people have moved on, and we get these two cameos, the first is of the director Joe Russo and the other is of the creator of Thanos who is also responsible for multiple cosmic story lines in marvel. We get to witness the true hero of the movie which is the mouse, responsible for freeing Scott from the Quantum Zone. We then get to see the two new characters – Morgan Stark and a grown up Casey Lang. All these new young characters are hopefully the beginning of “New Avengers” and this movie was perfect for their introduction.

Hulk donning a new persona (Professor Hulk) seems a little uncomfortable for few fans and would take time to get used to it but honestly few scenes of professor Hulk were very good and was also a pretty good way to end Hulk’s story arc. Now coming to Clint Barton aka Ronin was great. The costume looked fantastic. This new chapter to Barton’s life has an unprecedented story around it which marvel might unravel later on, probably connecting to the Yakuza or the Hand (which few fans might recall from before) and trust me it will lead to big things. The time travel adventures were just amazing, the people got to relive so many amazing moments from the previous MCU films and the add on scenes were great too, like the HYDRA Captain America scene, Old Cap V New Cap, the Ancient One explaining timelines, fat Thor getting to meet his mother was delightfully sweet and funny. Even the 1970 was a great scene for the Marvel Fans as they got to witness so many Easter eggs – Old ant-man helmet, Original Jarvis as the butler and many more.

The rest was pretty well illustrated, fight scenes were “EPIC” – Cap lifting Mjolnir, the return off all dusted heroes with Sam saying “On your left”, their reunion and interaction with the original heroes was satisfyingly kickass, Pepper Potts as RESCUE, Thanos being a total badass without the stones was great but was shown too powerful.

The death of Black Widow and Iron Man, two of the main founding avengers was very, very emotional. I honestly think Iron Man’s death was necessary which will act as a pivotal point for other MCU movies. That scene was just brilliantly executed, those 3 words were just so powerful – “I AM IRON-MAN”. His death was just so moving, (I literally cried in the cinema hall during the funeral). We got a glimpse of a grown up Harley(the kid from Iron Man 3) Cap retiring, getting to live the life he once wanted and passing on his mantle to Sam was an amazing way to end his story arc. The ending of the film was very satisfying and emotional hitting all the right notes. This movie was the beginning and end of an era.

Now what does the future holds for us MCU fans, New Avengers ? Will we see Avengers 5 ? Who will be the villain this time ? Kang, Skrulls, Galactus, The Cabal, Maters of Evil. My money is on – KANG, the conqueror, the time travelling master mind. As the marvel universe is opening towards a more cosmic side. It will be fitting to have Kang as the villain. For now lets just keep making theories, hoping to get the next Avengers film before 2025.

NEXT STOP : SPIDER MAN- FAR FROM HOME, which might just clarify few of the things confusing the fans in Endgame and it will be interesting to see how the story arcs take place after the snap.
